The Last Romance

In January-February of 2019, Colten joined the cast of four for Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach, Florida’s production of The Last Romance. This play, written by Joe DiPietro is an ethereal look at romance in a modern age, and follows the dynamic between two people who are falling in love at an elderly age, and all that it entails.

Colten played “The Young Man” who is the spiritual embodiment of the male protagonist “Ralph” in his early years, and who guides him through every scene by means of the opera music that Ralph so loves. (scroll for review)

Equity

“In 2020, I was honored to have received my Equity card thanks to taking on a principle contract in The Last Romance. Turning Equity is a milestone and an honor for every budding actor, and I am grateful for the doors that have opened since joining the union.”

The Sound of Music - National Tour

“2017-2018 was a year that changed my life completely. A mere 3 weeks after graduating from NYU and signing with Hudson Artist’s Agency, I found myself in the audition room for a show I never imagined I would be in: The Sound of Music. This production was originally directed by Jack O’Brien and I was covering everyone’s favorite Nazi boyfriend Rolf. The nonunion national tour hit the road in the summer of 2017. I found myself making lifelong friends, seeing much of North America, and experiencing an 8 show tour week for the first time.”

Signing with Hudson Artists Agency

After capping off his time at NYU by taking part in the class of 2017 student showcase, Colten ended up signing with Danny Prather at Hudson Artist’s agency. Danny had Colten hitting the audition circuit mere days after graduation. One of those first auditions would lead to landing his first job: The Sound of Music.

The Secret Garden

In 2016, NYU Steinhardt put on a dazzling production of The Secret Garden in the Frederick Loewe Theatre, directed by MK Lawson (Atlantic Theatre’s She Persisted). Colten played the role of Albert Lennox, father to Kathy Ang’s (Over the Moon - Netflix) Mary Lennox. This production was an absolute highlight of Colten’s time at NYU.

Hairspray!

“The Spring of 2016 saw me way out of my comfort zone, but in the best way. Fresh into my first year of grad school at NYU and getting my musical theatre sea-legs under me after studying opera for several years, I auditioned for NYU Tisch’s production of Hairspray! on a whim. A round of terrifying and exhilarating callbacks later, I found myself landing the role of Link Larkin, and playing opposite the likes of would-be-stars like Austin Crute (Booksmart, Daybreak, Atlanta, Call your Mother) Haley Fish (B’way: Cats, Hello Dolly! Kiss Me, Kate, and The Music Man), and Casey Whyland (Dan Cody’s Yacht, and B’way: Billy Elliot). This experience proved to be an absolute trove of memories and one that I’ll never forget.. not to mention some great “gif-able” moments.”

A fourth character is the Young Man. He is played by Colten Blair, an up and coming performer who has toured with “The Sound of Music” and sung opera professionally. It’s the Young Man who steps in and sings operatic interludes…and oh, with such regal beauty and earnestness.” -Pam Harbach of Brevard Culture.com
